Newborn Screening Advisory Board

Father with infant daughterNorthwest Regional Newborn Bloodspot Screening (NWRNBS) is a program of the Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) Oregon State Public Health Laboratory. An Advisory Board was established by the Legislature in 2019 to provide strategic policy advice to OHA’s Public Health Newborn Screening Laboratory program.

Oregon Consensus was brought in to help establish the group’s Governance Agreements and disorder screening protocol; and from there, to facilitate group deliberations and consensus-building efforts related to disorder reviews under consideration for adding to the Newborn Bloodspot Screening Panel. OC also coordinated and informed the Program’s reports to the Legislature.

As of Spring 2024, the facilitation effort continues with affiliate provider Jensen Strategies.
