“It was a good process that led to a satisfying agreement….” —OLAA participant
In 2008 through 2010, Oregon Consensus brought together dozens of representatives of Latino community organizations, agencies, and educational programs in 2010 to collaborate on creating a vision for meeting the needs of Latino communities across Oregon. Through a series of open meetings hosted by Portland State University’s School of Community Health and the Multnomah County Health Department, the group reached consensus on creating the Oregon Latino Agenda for Action (OLAA), a statewide network representing broad Latino interests, that will develop strategies and identify policy priorities. Hoping to build “one united voice – una voz unida,” OLAA will host a statewide summit in the fall of 2010, to discuss Latino needs, and to develop its first agenda for guiding development of public policies that will improve the lives of Latinos in Oregon.
